Before and after comparison

Before
Informational presence
The original site communicates the brand story and routes visitors to basic menu and location information.

After
Interactive ordering experience
The redesign creates a direct path from product discovery to customization, ordering, rewards, and customer support.
The opportunity
Move customers from reading to taking action
The original experience introduced JV Bagels and its three locations, but customers still had to leave the main journey to make decisions or place an order. The redesign treats the website as a digital storefront: products are visual, choices are structured, and key actions remain close at hand.
My role
Product design and implementation
I evaluated the existing experience, restructured the content, defined the customer flows, designed the responsive interface, and built the functional redesign in Base44.
Project goals
Connect convenience with the neighborhood brand
- Make the menu easier to scan across breakfast, lunch, bowls, and drinks
- Let customers customize items and build an order without leaving the site
- Give each location clear hours, contact details, and directions
- Encourage repeat visits through a visible points-and-rewards experience
- Reduce repetitive support questions with FAQs and an AI order concierge
Customer journey
Six connected experiences
Menu discovery
A visual menu, chef's specials, category filters, descriptions, and prices help customers move from browsing to choosing quickly.
Item customization
Product detail views support ingredient choices, special instructions, quantity changes, and clear add-to-cart pricing.
Ordering flow
A persistent cart keeps the order visible and gives the experience a direct path from menu exploration to pickup planning.
Rewards
Customers can see available and lifetime points, compare redemption costs, and connect each purchase to a future reward.
Local information
Dedicated location views organize addresses, opening hours, phone actions, directions, and maps for all three shops.
Self-service support
Structured FAQs and an AI order concierge help with ingredients, dietary recommendations, catering, and ordering questions.
Design system
Editorial warmth with practical hierarchy
- Used editorial typography and a warm neutral palette to create a more premium, food-focused identity
- Paired strong product photography with concise descriptions and visible prices
- Organized the menu around familiar categories instead of one long undifferentiated list
- Kept ordering, rewards, locations, and help visible in the primary navigation
- Designed reusable cards and content patterns for consistency across desktop and mobile
Product thinking
Support before and after the order
The experience extends beyond checkout. Rewards create a reason to return, location pages reduce pickup uncertainty, and support tools answer common questions about ingredients, dietary needs, catering, and order status.

Outcome
A website that works like a customer-facing product
The finished redesign preserves JV Bagels' neighborhood identity while giving customers a clearer, more useful digital experience. It demonstrates how thoughtful information architecture, responsive interface design, and product features can turn a local business website into an ordering and retention tool.
